The Pink Twins
Text by Sue Rider Music by John Rodgers
They dressed in Pink, accessorised in Pink, lived in pink and drove a pink car. The twins also made a difference to the lives of thousands of people with disabilities through their long-term commitment to the Sunshine Welfare and Remedial Association (SWARA), an organisation perched on a remnant of land between Albert Park and the Normanby Fiveways.
Now Queensland artists Sue Rider (writer/director) and John Rodgers (composer/musician) celebrate the rose-coloured lives and good works of identical twins Dorothy and Moyia O’Brien in an original work of music theatre.
The Pink Twins boasts an outstanding cast including identical twin performers Anni Davey and Maude Davey, twin singer–musicians Heather Michael and Marjorie Michael, and actor Dan Crestani. A distinctive part of this production will be the involvement of SWARA service users in a community choir conducted by Robert Eastcott.
The Pink Twins dramaturgy by Peter Matheson, design by Greg Clarke, and lighting design by David Walters. An Accolade Production.
This project has received financial assistance from the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. Presented by Queensland Music Festival, Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Brisbane City Council.
