His scores for Jane Campion’s award-winning feature film The Piano and Peter Greenaway’s films have won him critical acclaim and popular recognition and he continues to create inspiring music for concert and film, including the 2008 release Man On Wire.

Star of the 2008 Olympics opening ceremony, William Barton is recognised internationally as a leading didgeridoo player in the classical world. He presents the extraordinary potential of his instrument and richness of his Australian culture to audiences internationally. In addition to performances from Nyman’s popular repertoire, this outstanding concert will premiere a new work from Nyman commissioned by Queensland Music Festival, composed to be performed with William Barton.
