A film-scoring competition for Queensland’s young composers. Score IT! throws down the gauntlet to young composers between the ages of 12 – 18 to create a unique and original composition to accompany a scoreless short film. New career opportunities in musical composition are expanding due to new technologies and the growth of creative industries.
View the films and download the entry form.
QMF brings together key industry players to promote these growing industries by discovering and developing the musical talents of today’s young composers.
To support and stimulate the creative process that underpins composing music for film, television and computer games, a series of Composing for Film workshops were conducted by renowned Australian composer Peter Kaldor on Thursday Island and in Bamaga, Weipa, Cairns, Townsville, Mt Isa, Logan and Brisbane.
The announcement of the Score IT! 2009 competition winners will be made by Michael Nyman, patron of Score IT!
This project is supported by the Australia Council, the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body, through its Community Partnerships Section.
