The Last Kinection

Hip-hop trio The Last Kinection are no strangers to success within the industry. Naomi (MC Nay) was one half of Australia’s sexiest R&B pop sensation ‘Shakaya’. Joel (Weno) and Jacob (DJ Jay Tee) also enjoyed much success with their former band ‘Local Knowledge’, winning Music Oz Best Indigenous Artist in 2005 and a Deadly Award for Best Group and performing at Triple J’s Live At The Wireless.

The tracks on their debut album Nutches were written by siblings MC Nay and Weno, through their reality. It’s the soundtrack to their lives, as Australian Indigenous young people (Murries) living an urban Australian life.

The group’s first show was to an audience of 13,000 people at the Stylin’ Up festival in Brisbane in 2006. They have been on the stages of Brisbane’s River Festival, The Woodford Dreaming Festival, The Sydney State Theatre for the Cannot Buy My Soul sell out concert series, the Newcastle Civic Theatre, the Sydney Opera House, the sold out Groovin the Moo festival and rocked the Becks Bar at the 2008 Sydney Festival.
