Sally Golding
Sally Golding is a hybrid media artist and curator based in Brisbane working with innovative technical ideas and uncanny methods of practice. On the cusp of performance, moving image art and visual hallucination, Sally’s practice embraces cross discipline approaches to the creation of often startling sonic and visual explorations into expanded cinema performance and audiovisual installation.
Solo and in collaboration with sound artist Joel Stern as Abject Leader, Sally has been widely recognised as one of Australia's leading young practitioners in the field of experimental live audiovisual film art, having both performed for and programmed for, key festivals and events internationally and throughout Australia. With colleagues Joel Stern and Dr. Danni Zuvela, Sally directs and curates OtherFilm, a Brisbane based audiovisual and music festival dedicated to avant-garde live events, performances, workshops and debates. As a curator Sally has been responsible for innovative moving-image and performance programming at festivals throughout Australia, demonstrating a deep engagement with historical and contemporary issues within her field.
Sally researched and developed the program for audiovisual conservation and digitisation at the State Library of Queensland focusing on home movies and amateur footage, and performs the preservation style of ‘surgery’ required to care for these historic documents.
