Philip Rex
Phillip Rex is one of Australia’s most sought after musicians. A leading exponent of the double bass and a gifted tuba player with the Australian Art Orchestra, Phillip is a member of three of the finest piano trios in the country. He is renowned by musicians and critics for his ability to adapt the seemingly cumbersome double bass into almost any style of music.
Phillip is a regular appearance in various Jazz acts and has toured extensively throughout Australia and around the world. He has also remixed or produced singles for acts such as Merrill Bainbridge and Sirens and for the Big Brother soundtrack.
He is founder and co-producer of Australian group Decoy, which combines contemporary dance grooves with elements of instrumental jazz and world music. In 1998 Phillip shared an ARIA Award win with musical colleague Ian Chaplin for Best Jazz Album.
