Nathan Lam

Nathan was born in 1991 and is currently completing a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium under Floyd Williams.

Nathan was awarded an Associate Diploma with Trinity College, London (ATCL) on clarinet and an Associate Diploma with AMEB (AMusA) on piano in 2008. Nathan has won notable competitions and scholarships, including the first place in the 17 and under section of the Australian Clarinet and Saxophone Competition and first places in the Australian Society for Music Education’s Young Composer’s Competition and National Composer’s Competition for Band Music. His music has been played by the University of Tasmania Community Music Program Wind Orchestra under the baton of Steve King.

Nathan has played with the Conservatorium Wind Orchestra, Queensland Youth Orchestra and Queensland Wind Orchestra, the Brisbane Chinese Christian Choir and ensembles in the Western International Band Clinic held in Seattle, working with various world class conductors.

Nathan draws inspiration from both classical masters and contemporary composers such as Glass and Birtwistle. Nathan is particularly interested in composing and performing contemporary art music.
