Erkki Veltheim
Erkki Veltheim is a gifted violinist, violist, composer and improviser. He has performed nationally and internationally with groups including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Australian Art Orchestra and various other ensembles in Australia and Europe.
Erkki composes string quartet arrangements for multi ARIA award nominee Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. He has also performed with Australian Indigenous group Black Arm Band.
Erkki’s compositions have been performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Australian String Quartet and Twitch Ensemble, and have featured in the Melbourne International Festival for the Arts and the Melbourne Museum Virtuosic Visions series. He has written and performed two experimental music theatre works with John Rodgers for the Queensland Performing Arts Trust. His mixed media installations have been exhibited in Australia, Finland and Spain.
